Family and friends!
So
I did change the subject line now because we really aren`t seeing sun
at all. This week has gone a little bit better than the last.. (I think I
always say that? But I guess it`s because I really love being here and
every week just seems like such a blessing).
Monday..
Pday was probably one of the worst.. and I only say that because I
spent the whole day without my companion. She went to immigrations and I
was stuck in a trio with some other sisters.. We ate in a restaurant
that was kind of weird and I ended up feeling pretty sick after.. haha
that`s what I get from eating in the street here! I spent a little time
with a young woman from another ward until we went to pick up Hermana
Inca and then had a lesson with our pensionista.
Tuesday
was a really good day for us because we had 5 lessons.. for us here in
this area it is really good.. but don`t worry I have big plans for
getting us up to 8 or 9 in one day like in my other area.. because I
know how wonderful it feels to teach all day every day! We were able to
teach Aida and then Josefa.. two recent converts and Josefa finally told
us why she wasn`t able to come to church, it`s really for her son that
causes a lot of problems in the house when he drinks.. so we are going
to try to find a solution for her. We also spoke with the Santos family
and they are preparing to go to the temple to be sealed.. they just have
to finish the temple prep classes. Lastly we had a great lesson with a
less active member, Diana, we were able to help her with a lot of the
problems she was having and she committed to come to church on Sunday.
Wednesday
was a crazy crazy day because... WE MOVED! I think I am like the queen
of moving here in Peru because I have now done it 3 times.. more than
like anyone else in the whole mission I think haha. But we really like
our new apartment, it is a little smaller which is actually a good
thing, and it has the bathroom inside instead of on the roof yay! We
finally got everything all unpacked and cleaned and then headed out to
do our proselyting. The lessons we had weren`t all that special, but I
think the less active members and the converts were able to be
strengthened by our words in some form.
Thursday
we had a pretty slow day, but we found a new investigator to teach,
Alejandra! She is the niece of a less active member and is super cute.
She`s 19 and really receptive and we will be going to visit her again on Tuesday this week.
We also finally found out why Berta doesn`t want to get baptized.. She
told us that she doesn`t want to commit and then later make a mistake..
We explained a little bit about repentance and how it is an ongoing
process, but she still doesn`t feel like she is prepared.. We`ll keep
going on that one.
Friday..
Highlight of my day.. Hamburger.. Haha ok maybe that`s not true but it
had been almost 2 months since I had eaten anything super American and
it was just so yummy! Here they put french fries on the burgers which is
something I hadn`t thought about but is super good! Ok I`m going to
stop talking about food cuz I`m getting hungry here sitting at the
computer. On Friday
we had a really great lesson with Jesser. He told us that he was going
to now pray every day and read the Book of Mormon every day as well as
come to church on Sunday (don`t get your hopes up.. we went to pick him up and he was sleeping and wouldn`t leave.. bummer).
Saturday
was a good day as well.. We had a lesson with the Dominguez family.. We
are teaching the mom, dad, and their two sons, as well as their niece..
We are praying and praying for the 5 of them.. Then after we found our
GOLDEN INVESTIGATOR, Edgar is an older man who is absolutely prepared,
from what we are seeing right now. He went to church when he was living
in Brazil with his family and then moved here for work alone. At the end
of the lesson he told us that he really wanted to pray, that he was
going to talk to his boss so that he didn`t have to work Sundays so he
can come to church and then asked us what homework we had for him. It
was really a miracle that we had to get to know him.
Sunday
President and Hermana Erickson came to our ward to visit which was
super great. It was testimony meeting and they both got up to speak. In
the middle of the testimony the microphone started being weird and we
couldn`t hear much of what Hermana Erickson said, so they turned the
microphone off and President Erickson just kind of yelled.. it was
pretty great, they are so wonderful and I am so grateful to have them as
my mission presidents.
Hope this week goes great for everyone and that you
all have a great Mother`s day. Thanks Mom for being so wonderful and
helping me through everything as well as my sweet grandmothers and all
the other wonderful women and mothers I have come to know! Take care!
Hermana Imbler
