Hola mi familia y amigos!!!
Before I say anything else... HAPPY 24th JARED!!! I love you so much big brother! Sorry I missed your day, but I hope this shoutout will suffice ;)
First week at the CCM (mtc...) is done! I absolutely love the Peru MTC and feel so lucky that I get to be here instead of at the Provo MTC. How about that fireside on Sunday?? Bueno, si? So wonderful to hear from the Prophets and apostles of the Lord. The internet is slow here, and I mean VERY slow, so I will try to get as much in as I can in my allotted time. This week has been full of ups and downs so I´ll start from the beginning:
Day one.. the plane ride. AHHH, it was probably one of the most horrible experiences I´ve had, not going to lie. I was sick the whole time and there was nothing I could do but sleep to pass the time. We got to the airport around 1:30 ish... from what I remember. There was a Korean popstar on our plane that I´m sure Justin and Caris know about, I saw him at the LA airport and recognized him from pictures, but the Peruvians totally went crazy when he got there. Who knew Peruvians liked k-pop?
Day two: Lots of instruction about living at the CCM, there were SO many sisters, it´s such a wonderful time to be here and the Gospel is spreading quickly, I love it!! I don´t remember much about my actual first day at the CCM, but I know I was sick again. The food is good but it has taken almost a week for my body to get used to it. We eat rice for like every meal, except for breakfast, and the Peruvians eat meat ALL THE TIME! It´s a huge adjustment.
Day three through 6: I´m packing these all in to one paragraph because my days kind of blur together. We have awesome teachers and I feel like I am learning a lot. The Spanish is coming, not as quickly as I would like, but I know that the Lord is helping me so much. If I were taking a normal Spanish class there is no way I would know as much as I do now in just a week here at the CCM. My teachers are amazing, they speak very little English, but I think it´s better that way, it forces me to learn new words every day. The Latinos are my favorite people ever! They are extremely kind and genuine. The Latino Elders are especially awesome! I sit with them at meals and try to talk with them as much as I can. They always let the Sisters go first in line for meals and will get drinks for us and much more, such gentlemen!
I didn´t really feel like I was in Peru until today, P-day! We got to go to the Lima temple which is beautiful! Small, but beautiful! The driving here is insane! Riding the buses I thought we were going to hit about a million other cars or go up on the curb, definitely something I will have to get used to. We also got to go to this cool store owned by a member. They have ties and scripture cases and lots of other awesome handmade Peruvian things. I don´t think I´ll get the chance to send a package home because it´s really expensive, but I will bring what I can in my suitcase. We went to a store that is kind of similar to Walmart after the temple and I found GOLDFISH, so expensive, but so worth it! They had some great Peruvian candy as well. I wanted to buy some kind of sweater, but I didn´t see many clothes, because believe it or not, it´s cold here! I am wishing I had brought a few things that were warmer!
Next topic (sorry I´m so scattered, I´ll get better at emails with time) Mi compañera Hermana Whatcott is hilarious! We´re completely opposite though. I´m loud and very talkative and she´s pretty quiet, but when she does talk she´s super funny. I think we are getting along pretty well. Our lesson last night (fake investigator) was hilarious though. We asked Carlos what he wanted in life and he said a family, so of course I turn in my book and start talking about eternal families. In the middle of that discussion (all in Spanish) Hmn. Whatcott suddenly asks him to be baptized, also in Spanish, so I turn and say, what are you trying to say? Then she repeats herself and Carlos and I both look at her and are like ¿COMO? Hahaha it was so funny, turns out she thought I was talking about baptism and not eternal families. Oh well we´ll get better with time, it is only our first week! I´m about out of time, but I want you all to know that I LOVE THIS GOSPEL! It is so true, and it never changes no matter where you are in the world! I pray for you every day and love you all so much!! Adios for now!!
Love,

The Opening

Hola amigos! It took me a month and a half to get this post up because I was so busy with school and freaking out. I'm headed to the PERU LIMA NORTH MISSION! Let me tell you I have never been more surprised in my whole life! Never in a million years did I think I would be headed to South America! I admit it took me a long time to come to accept the fact that I would be going to a VERY different place than where I expected. At this time I am now really really excited to have the opportunity to serve my Heavenly Father in Peru. He loves his children everywhere and I am excited to meet and teach the people in Peru who are ready to receive the gospel! Because of the new boundaries I'm not exactly sure how big my mission will be, but I know that I will not be in as much of the jungle as expected when I first received my call. At first when I found that I would be serving in the jungle areas I was a little bit nervous, ok... I was really nervous! Then after it settled in and the boundaries got changed I was a little sad that I wouldn't be in the jungle... never thought I would say that! All in all I cannot wait until I get to leave! 73 days! Here's the pictures from my call:

The Arrival

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! My call came in the mail today!! I will be opening it in less than 1 hour!! I can't help but start freaking out! I will finally know where I will be living for 18 months of my life. I will know where I will be teaching, and I will know where those wonderful people are that are waiting for my arrival! I honestly have cried, laughed, screamed, and hyperventilated a lot in the last few hours! New post will be up tonight with pictures from the opening and my destination!!

Anticipation

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Excessive exclamation marks, I know, but so worth it! My call was assigned yesterday and will be coming next week! I absolutely cannot contain my excitement! It's amazing to know that there are some people who already know where I will be serving. 18 months of my life is going to be devoted to people Heavenly Father prepared for ME to teach. Not just anyone, but me personally! That alone is enough. I will gladly go anywhere because I know that those are the people who need to be taught by the spirit my Heavenly Father can manifest through me!

Until next week

The Wait

The mission papers are IN!!!! I can barely contain my excitement! Now comes the wait... oh the wait... My stake president said it should take between 10 and 14 days, but I'm really hoping it's sooner rather than later. I can honestly say I have never been happier! It all feels surreal that it is actually here! Even though I can think of a million cool places to go I can't think of anything better than to have my Heavenly Father pick the place where I will go. It is so cool to know that He will direct a member of the 12 apostles to assign my call. I can't think of anything more special than that. Knowing that he will send me to wherever I can do the best missionary work it wonderful! No one knows me better than He does and to have my call personally assigned by him I seriously can't fathom it. I feel so lucky to have so much support around me and I know that this will be something I can do with the Lord's help. I couldn't do it without him. Can't wait for my next post after I get my call!!!

The Beginning

Hello Everyone!

This is the beginning of the blog about my mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At this point in time my mission papers are still in the process of being completed, but they are ALMOST finished!! I honestly cannot wait to see where I will be going for 18 months. I've never been more excited for anything in my life. I know it's right for me, and I know the church is true!!! I started this blog to keep everyone updated on my whereabouts while on my mission and stories/pictures. My Mom/Dad should be keeping it updated weekly, if I can convince them to learn enough about technology to keep it up! Although it's going to be about a month before I get my call I wanted to get started on the blog to teach my parents how to use it early! Ciao! Adios! Farewell! Until next time when my call is in the mail!
